Why Posting Every Day Isn’t the Power Move You Think It Is
I know it sounds surprising, but I see it all the time: clients doing too much when it comes to social media. And believe me, it can backfire. Just because you’re creating a lot of content doesn’t mean it’s the right content. Here are 5 common mistakes I see when people overproduce.
1. Posting Too Much
Yes, it happens. If you’re just posting to check something off your list, you’re not producing meaningful content. Each post should serve a purpose and connect with your audience.
2. Prioritizing Quantity Over Quality
Instead of pushing out content every single day, focus on fewer, stronger posts. Aim for 2–3 high-quality posts per week with strong visuals, thoughtful captions, and relevant hashtags. And please — keep your fonts, colours, and visuals consistent.
3. Spreading Yourself Too Thin Across Platforms
With Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and Pinterest all competing for your time, it’s easy to burn out. If you’re active on multiple platforms but none are performing well, narrow your focus to one or two that make the biggest impact for your brand.
4. Reposting Without Adjusting for Each Platform
Not all platforms have the same audience or culture. If you’re reusing content, tweak it for the platform you’re posting to. For example, an Instagram Reel can also work on TikTok, but the captions and tone should match each platform’s unique vibe.
5. Ignoring Your Website
This might be the most important one. If you’re driving traffic from social media to your website but the site has broken links, outdated design, or minimal content, you’re losing potential customers. Remember — you don’t own your social media accounts, but you do own your website. Treat it like your living room before guests arrive: clean, welcoming, and ready to impress.
Bottom line: Posting on social media without a strategy is like throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. If you’re ready to make your efforts more effective and save time in the process, send me an email and let’s build a plan that works.
